The Foundation at Carilion Clinic needed a centralized resource for their campaign to raise donations for the new Cancer Center. We had the constraints of a tight turn-around and had to work within the existing structure of their Drupal based website.
I took the lead on this project and facilitated a series of discovery sessions with key stakeholders in order to uncover their content needs and desired calls to action. Leveraging what we learned in the discovery phase, I developed user flows, wireframes, then prototypes that prioritized clear pathways to conversions and easy access to information. Upon completion of the design phase, I conducted a comprehensive walkthrough of the mockups and interactive prototype with the client. My presentation focused on articulating the strategic rationale behind key design decisions, demonstrating how each element aligned with the project's goal.
As the project lead, designer, and developer, I maintained a holistic view of the microsite's creation. However, a significant part of its success stemmed from the invaluable contributions of our Product Owner. They played a critical role in crafting detailed user stories, which served as our blueprint, and helped maintain the organizational structure necessary to navigate each phase of the project.
My Roles:
This project was a particularly rewarding experience, marked by a highly collaborative dynamic with the client. I consistently received positive feedback on the design iterations and development progress. While we await performance metrics, the client's immediate reaction to the launched microsite was overwhelmingly positive. As I took on multiple roles, seeing the vision come to life step-by-step was a great experience.
